SHPS and Delta Health Systems partner to improve health outcomes via integrated care management services

Louisville, Ky. (August 21, 2007) – SHPS, a leading provider of health advocacy and health benefits solutions, today announced an expanded partnership with Delta Health Systems, one of the nation’s largest independent third party administrators (TPAs), to offer SHPS’ integrated care management solution. This solution – designed exclusively for TPAs – integrates utilization management, case management, disease management and wellness programs into a seamless medical management experience.
Since early 2006, Delta has offered SHPS’ disease management, wellness, nurse line and online decision-support services through Delta Team Care – a comprehensive program that proactively identifies and manages health risks. Delta Health Systems strengthened its partnership with SHPS in 2007 by integrating SHPS’ utilization management and case management services into Delta Team Care.
“Delta Health Systems strives to help our members improve their health by encouraging them to make the best healthcare choices possible,” said Thomas R. Partlow, Delta Health Systems’ president. “With the new SHPS solution, we are able to help a member through all stages of their life, from the healthy to the not-so-healthy.”
SHPS’ integrated care management solution comprises URAC-accredited services that take a personalized approach to inpatient and outpatient review, care coordination and chronic condition management. It leverages a team of expert staff physicians, specialty physician reviewers and registered nurses. Many SHPS nurses have varying specialties, including oncology, case management, rehabilitation and other key medical fields. Additionally, all SHPS healthcare professionals use proprietary medical protocols and nationally-recognized standards of care to assist them when serving participants, including Milliman Care Guidelines, a contracted network of specialists and evidenced-based medical guidelines.
“SHPS and Delta Health Systems share the belief that managing the health continuum requires an integrated solution spanning multiple care management services,” said Jeff Rosenblum, SHPS’ executive vice president, channel solutions. “SHPS’ integrated care management solution provides seamless best-in-class services that address the healthcare needs of all Delta members – from the well and at-risk, to those with chronic and complex conditions. This program exemplifies the paradigm in which all healthcare services will soon be judged. The only difference: SHPS can meet these expectations today.”
