SHPS Claims Data Integration Service Expedites Custom Data Exchanges

Louisville, Ky. (April 11, 2006) – SHPS, one of the nation’s largest consumer-driven healthcare solutions providers, announced today that it has established a new claims data integration service. With the new service SHPS can accept claims data from health insurance carriers in any format, including real-time or batch, for spending account validation and its other healthcare service offerings.

The new integration service eliminates a key challenge for health insurance carriers burdened with legacy systems that are unable to easily accommodate requests from clients for custom data exports. Carriers can now provide SHPS data using their standard export file formats, resulting in expedited data exchange and reduced costs for SHPS’ large employer clients.

“Health insurance carriers often have limitations with custom data transmission due to legacy systems that prevent effective use of claim information,” said Rishabh Mehrotra, president of SHPS. “Through its state-of-the-art capabilities, SHPS eliminates this obstacle and improves service levels and lowers costs for clients and their employees. SHPS uses individual health claim information throughout its entire suite of consumer-driven healthcare products and can accept one data feed for use across its entire spectrum of products. With its spending account products, the claims data is used to validate purchases as required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and expedite reimbursement to spending account participants. Through use of an electronic data feed, SHPS can eliminate paperwork for employees, while ensuring IRS compliance for the employer.

With care management products, such as disease and care management, claims data can be used to target individuals with potential or existing health problems so that conditions can be addressed through personalized, professional guidance before they become chronic or costly, and employees can begin to take a greater interest in managing their overall health.

Effective immediately, SHPS’ claims data integration service will be available for all SHPS products, which provide employers, health plans and other healthcare provider organizations a consumer-friendly approach to implementing a consumer-driven healthcare strategy.
