SHPS Announces Retiree Solutions to Help Medicare Prescription Drug Plans Service New Enrollees

Louisville, Ky. (December 1, 2005) – SHPS, a leading provider of Integrated Health Management solutions, announced today a suite of retiree solutions to help new Medicare Part D prescription drug plans (PDPs) immediately offer service excellence to new enrollees.

Recent retiree and employer reactions have shown that the Medicare Part D law is beneficial but complicated, with numerous compliance deadlines and communication hurdles. Moreover, managing individual retirees’ needs has not been the focus of many newly anointed plan providers. As a result, numerous new PDPs are struggling to provide consumer-friendly solutions to retirees wanting to enroll in their programs.

“On the strength of SHPS’ experience in Integrated Health Management, PDPs can look to SHPS’ retiree solutions for convenient and comprehensive support,” said Rishabh Mehrotra, SHPS’ president, human resource services and chief technology officer. “With its retiree-friendly tools and services, SHPS can help providers attract and retain retirees in their Part D plans.”

From an administrative standpoint, Medicare Part D requires PDPs to enroll their participant members and provide ongoing customer service – a new business requirement for many new entrants to the marketplace. On the consumer side, Medicare-eligible seniors will have to wade through a sea of solicitations from dozens of sources to decide whether enrolling, and which PDP, is right for them.

SHPS’ new fast, flexible set of tools includes: enrollment of retiree participants by telephone, by Internet or by mail; “print-on-demand” fulfillment capabilities for communication and education; personalized member billing; automated electronic data feeds of enrollment information; experienced participant call center to counsel seniors; and decision-support tools to select the best plan for their needs.

“SHPS can immediately guide PDPs through the intricacies of the new prescription law and help them in keeping their customers happy and healthy,” said Jeffery Lanzet, senior vice president, human resource product management for SHPS. “SHPS’ innovative, customized modules will help lower costs for providers, empower them to build lasting member relationships and allow them to focus on their core competencies.”

SHPS also offers Medicare services to employers, and recently signed agreements with some of the nation’s largest companies to provide administrative and consultative support for Medicare Part D.
