SHPS Provides Full Spectrum of Support for Employers Wrestling with Medicare Part D Challenges

Louisville, Ky. (November 29, 2005) – SHPS, the nation’s leading provider of Integrated Health Management solutions, has signed agreements with several of the nation’s largest employers to provide administrative and consultative support for Medicare Part D, the federal prescription drug benefit created as part of the 2003 Medicare Modernization Act.
SHPS will provide these companies ongoing Part D support services including enrolling senior participants, issuing notices of creditable coverage, providing electronic data feeds to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), billing retirees for monthly payments and providing actuarial services.
“The new Medicare prescription law is beneficial but complicated, with many compliance deadlines and communication challenges that all companies sponsoring employee health plans must consider,” said Rishabh Mehrotra, SHPS’ president, human resource services and chief technology officer. “With its robust health plan services, SHPS is uniquely positioned to guide employers through the challenges of Medicare Part D and ensure that they provide seniors a quality product in compliance with the new subsidy.”
While the administrative challenges for employers are considerable, there is an equally great need to educate eligible seniors about Medicare Part D. Therefore, SHPS will also provide its clients access to an educated, trained participant contact center capable of counseling participants by phone on their Part D options.
“SHPS takes great pride in consistently providing clients and their participants with innovative, customized healthcare solutions,” added Jeffery Lanzet, senior vice president, human resource product management for SHPS. “The development of SHPS’ Medicare Part D services is one example of the company’s ability to respond to regulatory changes and market demands, furthering its position as the industry’s leading provider of Integrated Health Management.”
